POWER I

In POWER I, the Libertarian Party faced limited success, going through multiple leaders. James Kain remained the longest-lasting leader of the LP but under his leadership, the party dropped below 1% national support. Towards the end of POWER I, the LP dropped to about 0.3% national support.

Era of Valladarex

Late into POWER I, Valladarex was elected chair of the party with a tenure which would last into POWER III. Though it would later span all the way into POWER III, this was the beginning of a new era for the Libertarian Party.

POWER II

In POWER II, Valladarex, with the help of LP members from POWER I, was able to create the LP early on. The LP was the second party to be created and was very nearly the first party to be formed. Valladarex led the party to great success, maintaining a national support level of 10% up until the end of POWER II. During POWER II, the LP entered two major deals, one with the Republican Party and one with the New Deal Alliance. After party leadership decided to break the Lib's end of the deal of the NDA deal, the Molotov-Rippentropp Pact was created between the GOP and NDA to destroy the LP. This pact lead to a large blow in national influence for the LP.

Rohan Incident

Later into POWER II, Jim Rohan and a group of his followers defected and formed the Constitution Party after dissatisfaction with the LP's leadership led to an intense argument on the matter. In the process, Rohan, who had been allotted Discord permissions due to his LNC position, deleted a majority of channels in the server before being noticed and banned by Valla.

After the Rohan Incident, many members left the LP for the newly formed CP, which led to a period of stagnation for the LP. In response, Valla staged a self-described military coup, installing military junta (LNC) to propel the party back to its previous status.

POWER III

In POWER III, the LP was led by Ludwig for a short period before Valladarex resumed his position as chairman.

Great Coup d'Amy

On July 7th, 2017 Valladarex was coup'd by Amy Schnoppsheimer, then Vice Chair of the LP, for several days after Amy's dissatisfaction with party leadership led to a civil war between loyalists on Valla's side and revolutionaries on Amy's side. Ultimately, the loyalists regained control and Valla resumed his tenure, banning Amy from the party afterwards.

The stress from the coup and the unpopularity that Valla began to face led to his decision to retire from his chairmanship.

Generation of Gary

On July 17th, 2017, Valladarex officially stepped down as chairman and was succeeded by Gary Johnson. During this era, the LP faced struggles after losing its top third-party status to the Democratic People's Union. Eventually the LP was able to return to its top third party status where it remained for months. Before July 17th however, there were power struggles over server ownership as Valladarex did not want to give up control of the server to Gary. After threats of being purged and a long period of uncertainty, Valladarex handed control over reluctantly. However, he was later banned until members of the party put forth a motion to unban Valladarex. The motion went through and later Valladarex completely retired from POWER after getting unbanned.

ASC Alliance

Under Gary's tenure, the LP entered a temporary alliance with the All Syndicalist Convention to take on the DPU. The alliance resulted with limited successes and did not ultimately dethrone the DPU from its third place position.

Johnsonian Lib-Dem Alliance

This deal ended when the LP decided to enter an alliance with the Democratic Party to take on the GOP, ASC, DPU, and any other threats. The Lib-Dem alliance lead to the Dems retaking the top party position and presidency and gained a multitude of seats for both parties. The alliance, in addition to internal party struggles within the DPU, led to the fall of the DPU and the ascension of the LP back to its third place position.

Green Party Merger

In August 2017, Gary and his fellow LNC secured a deal with Green Party leadership for the latter party to join the Libertarians under one united party. In order to have fair representation from Libs and Greens, a Green Caucus was established; additionally, the Green Caucus members were able to elect their own leader, who served as Vice Chair in the overall party.

Two notable members that joined the LP under this merge were Ralph Nader and Blanche Lincoln. Nader served as Chair of the Green Party before defecting, which meant then-Vice Chair Lincoln took charge of Chair position for the Greens. After further persuasion, Lincoln joined the Libs. However, in a strange turn of events for the game, Lincoln was running for President under the Green Party, meaning her defection lead to two Libertarian candidates on the ballot. She amassed 0.4% of the popular vote, compared to Gary's 0.6%.

Gargamel Disaster

With declining party membership, Gary was desperate to re-establish the LP as the dominant third party. In an act of poor judgement, Gary allowed and foresaw the election of Gargamel Bernstein to an LNC position. Gargamel had a previous history of being toxic and destructive, something that Gary overlooked. On November 10th, 2017, Gargamel acted out his intentions and used his LNC permissions in the Discord to kick and/or ban every single member of the Discord that was a lower rank than himself. This was an embarrassing blow to the LP and to Gary himself, as he had to rebuild the party Discord.

Intellectual Era

Late into POWER III, Gary was voted out of his position for Chair in favor of John Locke. Locke, along with several party members, were unhappy with Gary's decisions, especially after Gary used his incumbent status to campaign for his re-election in the party Discord's official #announcements channel. After his defeat, Gary stepped down to the level of Clerk within the Discord and later went on to defect to the Democratic Party.

The Libertarian Party entered a new era with its newest Chair, and faced success under a new party that focused on geniocracy, electing leadership members based on intelligence and analytical skill.

POWER IV-V

At the beginning of POWER IV, the LNC voted to end its alliance with the Democratic Party at the reset with five votes in favor, as well as the overwhelming support of the party membership.

The membership of the party increased slightly after the reset, with several players defecting to the new intelligence-based Libertarian Party. The party continued to face limited success throughout the iteration and into the next iteration, POWER V. As previously recorded, on December 21, 2017, the LP successfully held three Senate seats and one governorship.

Reign of the Same

In March 2018, John Locke eventually stepped down from his role of Chair and was succeeded by Paul Rand, a member of the party who had previously tried to run for the party positions of both NCD and Vice Chair, both failing. Before stepping up to the position of Chair, however, Rand did serve as CRO after the resignation of CookiesNow. Rand served as Chair until May 5, 2018, when longtime LNC member Mr. Not Mexican was elected over him. The party served mostly the same under the new chair, with the same overall strategy being applied in-game.

A mere two months later, Rand was elected back into office with a landslide victory, winning 80% of the vote, compared to Mr. Not Mexican's 20%. Rand continued to serve as Chair for the rest of the iteration, which eventually lead to an event known as POWER Limbo, where the game was not online for approximately a month.

POWER VI

During this iteration, the LP continued to be led under Rand and faced moderate success.

First Missing Era

However, on July 10, 2018 at approximately 5:30 PM EST, the LP merged with the Green Party (USA), Party for Socialism and Liberation, and Constitution Party to form the National Unity Party, which would go on as a major third party to threaten the duopoly status of the United States. This great merger meant that the Libertarian Party was abandoned all the way through the rest of the iteration until POWER Limbo 2.0 occurred on September 13, 2018 when the game was shut down due to unknown reasons that are still debated to this day.

POWER VII

Restoration Era

On October 11, 2018 the Libertarian Party returned in POWER VII, this time being led by Valladarex as Chair and Gary Johnson as Vice Chair. The two former Chairs struck a deal in Discord after Valla contacted with the following message.

Valla MPGA

The two served in their positions throughout the rest of the iteration, facing modest success as a party. The return of these two former Chairs back into leadership marked this as the Restoration Era, which would continue to expand into the next iteration.

POWER VIII

The LP has started anew in the eighth generation of POWER with a return of Valla as Chairman, Gary as Vice Chairman, and McKnight as NCD. The party mainly resided as the fourth-largest party, as it was smaller than the Green Party. This was the last known activity of the party until POWER X.

POWER IX

Second Missing Era

Power IX was the beginning of what would be known as the Second Missing Era, in which the LP had no notable members or documented history.

POWER X

Interim Period

The 10th iteration of POWER saw the return of many POWER Veterans to form the new Libertarian Party. Bernie Sanders recruited many old POWER players and developed a new version of the Libertarian Party with one goal in mind - to defeat the Democrats. This brief revival of the party under completely new membership was known as the Interim Period, as the party would fall into the Third Missing Era at the beginning of the next iteration.

POWER XI

Third Missing Era

POWER XI also saw no notable members, as the members of the previous iteration mostly returned to their previous parties or formed new ones. With no documented notable activity, this marked as the Third Missing Era.

POWER XII

New Generation

The Libertarian Party returned in the twelfth and current iteration of POWER under the leadership of William Blaxton, who not only refounded the party in-game but also rebuilt the party Discord with the help of Vice Chairman Joseph Stalin. In the first round of House elections, the Libertarians quickly seized 11 seats. This newfound success with almost all new members led to this event starting the New Generation.

Second Generation of Gary

On August 26th, 2020, after discussions with former chair Gary Johnson, Chairman Blaxton announced his resignation and endorsed Gary for the position of Chair. Gary was voted in quickly and gained Discord ownership and shortly after, party ownership in-game. Quickly after a successful election, Gary remodeled the official party Discord to better help members and external politicians reside in the Discord. Gary's return to chair marked the beginning of the Second Generation of Gary.

Second Johnsonian Lib-Dem Alliance

After his restructuring of the LP, Gary quickly got into contact with the Democratic Party leadership to work out what would soon become an informal alliance between the two parties. As a traditional third-party that had fallen to fifth place, it was crucial that the party tried a new path. This deal, along with Gary's leadership, ultimately proved to be very successful for the party. With a Dem alliance at hand and increased recruitment efforts, the LP has since risen to be the sixth largest party in the US, after previously falling all the way down to 16th place at the beginning of his second tenure as Chair.

Unification Period

After careful cooperation between the Republican Party, Libertarian Party, and other minor parties in early October 2020, the Libertarian Party officially merged into the National Unity Party of POWER XII on October 17th, 2020. This decision was made by Gary in order to solidify a Libertarian presence in the game through the NUP, due to unfortunate hard times with the proper Libertarian Party.

POWER XIII

Upon restart, the Libertarian Party was set as a default third party, in which Gary Johnson once again took the position of Chair - marking the very beginning of the Revival Period. In this iteration, the LP faced moderate success at the start of the game, benefiting heavily from high Popular Support and Institution Strength compared to player-made parties, but slowly fell in strength to the returning Farmer Labor Party and People's Revolutionary Party - now known as the Socialist Labor Party.

FLP Coalition of POWER XIII

At the beginning of the iteration, the Libertarian Party, under Gary's leadership, opted to join in a coalition with the Farmer Labor Party, Socialist Labor Party, and Green Party (later known as the Brotherhood of Gaia); this coalition was unofficially known as the FLP Coalition, taking name from its largest member. This coalition proved itself to be helpful to the LP, with Gary controlling the largest mining union in the USA, after close help from the FLP and Elmer Benson, especially.

Party Mergers

The LP, however was able to secure many key mergers into the party that benefited its overall member count and strength. On November 24th, 2020, the National Unity Party (not affiliated with any previous parties with the same name) was merged into the party, adding about seven members. Eighteen days later, the Constitution Party also merged into, adding about 17 members. With these two additions, the Libertarian Party sat at approximately thirty or so members, with a slight increase in members from Respublica's Libertarian Party only days after the most recent merge. In late December, the Neo-Confederate party merged into the LP, bringing three new members.

Rendezvous with Destiny

On December 9th, 2020, two days before the previous events, Gary approached Rush Limbaugh of the GOP after hearing that he was planning to defect from the Republican Party. After discussions of potential additional defectors and proper leadership positions for new ex-GOP members, Rush was made Vice Chair, while Kayleigh McEnany, Ronald W. Reagan, Ron J. Forbes were all added to the Libertarian National Committee. This mass defection of GOP leadership was posted in World News by Reagan as the Rendezvous with Destiny, which led to an increasing number of defectors from the Republican Party. With with this mass immigration, several former-GOP members were able to throw support behind a Republican-owned union to vote out its president and vote Rush Limbaugh in; this gave the party control of two different major unions, a major boost to party efforts. The LP continued to climb in members with successful recruitment and continued defects, leading the party to over 50 members and upwards of 9 states with Libertarian-majority PSO at one point.

Reaching New Heights

This revived Libertarian identity went on to hold two Cabinet positions within an Farmer-Labor presidency, with Gary Johnson as Secretary of the Treasury and Rush Limbaugh as Secretary of Defense. In Danica Roem's second bid for the presidency (Eighty Third Presidential Election), the LP managed to carry of upwards of 90-100 Electoral Votes, in an all-time success for the party's strength.

The party continued to succeed in its efforts further into the iteration, and after an endorsement of Lannes of the Democratic Party (Eighty Fourth Presidential Election) following the dissolution of the FLP Coalition, Rush was nominated to the position of Vice President, a position only held by a Libertarian once before. In the same presidency, Gary was re-elected to Secretary of the Treasury. At the height of its success, the Libertarians achieved majority PSO in 17 states (image shown below). Shortly after this, the LP went on to hold the position of the second-largest party in the Senate, only second to the Democrats, with 15 seats, before going down to maintaining a large portion instead. On February 18th, 2020, the Libertarian Party achieved its first presidency, after Gary was elected President through a glitch, that was ultimately never fixed due to Rumsod's absence. Gary went on to serve nearly two full terms under the Libertarian banner.

Malaysian Expansion

In February 2021, the Libertarian Party expanded into the country of Malaysia in response to ongoing crisis in the United States, the party decided to expand overseas into the country of Malaysia. The Libertarian Party of Malaysia was established with the purpose of maintaining control of another country to ensure friendly relations towards the USA in an increasingly hostile global environment.

Survival Period

Under Gary's presidency, war-weariness reached a height of nearly 50%, leading to the United States having 0% Government Approval and National Stability. This resulted in a negative SI effect on Libertarian politicians throughout the game. In response, the in-game Chair position was handed over to Chris King, in an effort to avoid these penalties. This effort ultimately failed, as Gary was pressured by moderator J.P. Lannes into returning to the Libertarian Party, after complaints of exploitation surfaced from Chinese Prime Minister Deng Xiaoping in the OG Discord. Chris continued to serve as the in-game Chair throughout the rest of the iteration until its end.

POWER XIV

At the start of POWER XIV, Gary Johnson founded the Libertarian Party as the first player-made party in the USA, with a party ID of 4. The party quickly was met with a brick wall, in an event known as The Great Shrink, in which the Libertarians went from over 70 members to fewer than 20 in the span of one iteration. However, at the beginning of the iteration, the Libertarians were able to spread out in sporadic key states, ranging from New Mexico to Florida. While New Mexico was quickly overtaken by the Coast Boat Cult, Iowa and South Dakota quickly became Libertarian strongholds, thanks to members Harley Quinn and Derek Wolf, respectively. The Libertarians, with historic reliance on key party mergers, was only able to obtain one merger into the party this iteration. Upon defeat in New Mexico, members Barack Obama and Gary Johnson moved to Rhode Island, where they quickly established another stronghold. Other states such as New Hampshire were taken over by members Alexander Raymond and Jackson S. Jackerson, Mississippi by Luigi IV, and Louisiana by Cooper.

On November 4th, 2021, prominent member and National Committee member Harley Quinn (formerly known as Joni Ernst) was banned by Chair, Gary Johnson due to a falling out in which Harley was accused of selfish behavior and unwillingness to help the party. Four days after this decision, on November 8th, the Libertarian Party merged into the Republican Party in an effort to unite the right-wing effort in the United States. Upon merge, Gary Johnson was made Vice Chair of the Republican Party, while Vice Chair Cole Parkhurst and National Committee members Alexander Raymond and Jeffery Bot were placed on the Republican National Committee. Upon merge the Libertarian Party held 16 members, 4.3% popular support, and 6.2% institutional strength; additionally the party held 4 Senators, and 20 Representatives. This merge was the beginning of the Right Merge.
